Challenge
The information that needs to be collected in the construction sites is vast and needs to be precise. For Ring Electric, monitoring the headcount was difficult because their supervisors needed to fill up papers, collect the employee’s hours manually, and then report it to payroll every two weeks. “The paper system was not working because we couldn’t trust it. We realized that some workers were signing for other workers’ times, and it was hard to validate what was really happening on the job sites,” affirms their business administrator, Aimee Anillo.
Ring Electric needed to switch to a reliable system that could report all the activities executed in the projects in real-time to avoid wasting money and facilitate the payroll processes.

Some of the tools that she uses and likes the most are the reports for payroll, which help her gather and calculate the information she needs as well as save time.
“I also check the daily timesheets. If any of my supervisors feel like somebody is trying to cheat with the hours, I look at the photo to make sure that the person who clocks in is the same person who clocks out, which we found a couple of times that they were not, so that is very helpful. SmartBarrel doesn’t lie and we can rely on it.” Aimee expressed.
Ring Electric is currently implementing SmartBarrel in two of their projects, Aurora Condos, which is a residential tower, and Beach Haus, a hotel. But the company’s directors are planning to use only the SmartBarrel timekeeping and labor tracking technology solutions in all of their projects.
“There is a true need in the industry for a different kind of timekeeping mechanism, and SmartBarrel is fulfilling that. I have very positive things to say about it; it’s pretty self-explanatory and easy to use. Whenever we have had any technical difficulty, we have received a quick and helpful response,” said Aimee.
