Tucked away on a private island in Aventura, a 6,000-square-foot residence stood ready for its second act. Part of the ultra-exclusive Privé enclave, a gated community accessible only by a single causeway, the home is framed by lush greenery and panoramic skyline views – a fitting stage for an elegant metamorphosis led by Builcore, a luxury builder and general contractor known for excellence in luxury home construction and high-end office construction in South Florida.

At just two decades old, the house remained solid and serviceable, yet the arrival of new owners brought a fresh vision to shape the space as their own.

They imagined a haven of natural wood and stone elements, light and earthy tones, and modern design that strikes a balance between warmth and functionality. With this concept in place, they turned to Dany Sebaaly, owner at Builcore Inc., to breathe new life into the home.

Philosophy of a Builder

For Dany, quality is non-negotiable. “We don’t like mediocrity,” he said. “I found a niche in the market because there was a huge demand for quality projects. Not too many contractors in the area have high standards. We tried to fill that void.

That commitment shows in how Builcore, a leading luxury general contractor in South Florida, approaches each job. Rather than pass work off to subcontractors, Dany insists on staying hands-on. “We self-perform most of our work,” he explained. “We do not just take the job and subcontract everything to other companies and manage them. We get our hands dirty. Especially the finished work, which is the last thing you see when you build a project. I have a team of skilled workers that can do excellent high-end work.

It is a philosophy rooted in personal accountability, and one that has shaped Builcore’s reputation for detail. As Dany put it, “We build as if this house is ours.”

Colleagues describe Dany’s drive in different terms: “He is not a person who is afraid of challenges. Actually, this is something that excites him. When he sees a challenge, it’s like he’s on fire.

Doing a lot of self-perform work is the reason it was so important for the Builcore team to have SmartBarrel. SmartBarrel is an AI-Powered Time Tracking Solution that helps contractors get the most accurate time for their hourly employees.  Builcore builds beautifully designed buildings and stays innovative while doing so.

Challenges Reimagined

Restricted Rules

Life inside Privé comes with exclusivity and restrictions. The building was confined to weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm, with no weekends permitted. Bringing in materials and workers to the location was another challenge in itself. “We had only a couple of parking spaces in front of the house,” Dany recalled. “So it was extremely difficult to manage the traffic without affecting the schedule.”

Every day demanded careful choreography to keep crews, vendors, and materials moving on and off the island without losing momentum. Even with those constraints, Builcore, the luxury builder behind many high-end construction projects in South Florida, delivered a project that would typically take two years to complete in just fourteen months.

The Pool Redesign

The most dramatic surprise came when excavation began for a new pool. Beneath the soil, Builcore uncovered a hidden seawall bracing system that could not be disturbed. Work halted for six months while engineers redesigned and re-permitted the plan. For many, it might have been a crushing setback. Dany saw it differently. “We had to be creative to work around it,” he said.

With every problem and challenge comes opportunities. Opportunities to grow, opportunities to learn, opportunities to have a client that appreciates you more.” The design team came up with a new angled layout with varied depths, a beach entry, and spa features, which ultimately surpassed the original concept. “It was a beautiful pool that was even nicer than the one that was originally designed.

Plan vs Reality

As is typical with large-scale projects, surprises often surface in the as-builts. In this case, the records on file did not fully reflect the drainage and plumbing lines running beneath the home’s structural slab.

Addressing it meant cutting into the slab while reinforcing it to preserve the house’s integrity. Dany was quick to emphasize that this was neither unusual nor a fault of the design team. “Designers do their best to visualize everything and give you the dimensions you need,” he explained. “But when you begin building, discrepancies often appear. Our job as contractors is to study the plans, anticipate issues, and solve them before they become problems.”

Constraints may have set the boundaries, but creativity transformed them into quiet refinements that gave the home its soul.

Details that Define

Certain elevated features highlight the dwelling’s fine craftsmanship. The front entry welcomes guests with a ten-foot pivot door cladded in Corten Steel, a material prized for its warm, rust-colored patina and sculptural presence. The same material reappears on the living room fireplace to punctuate the space with another bold gesture.

After stepping into the home, one of the first elements the eyes notice is a long corridor that’s crowned with a slatted wood ceiling finish, a detail that demanded precision and a high level of craftsmanship.

Upstairs, the master bathroom became another showcase for the team’s exacting craft. Oversized stone slabs had to be installed alongside high-end plumbing fixtures.

When you are dealing with stone slabs of this size, there is no room for mistakes,” Dany said. “Every cut and every hole has to be done to perfection to make everything look seamless.

Asked how he would describe the home, Dany did not focus on the technical features but on the feeling it created. “It’s warm and charming. Modern, but with character,” he said. “With all the wood, texture, and stone, you feel the warmth the moment you walk in. It’s a good vibe.”

Enduring Legacy

Dany’s steady approach carried the project through to completion. When the homeowners toured the finished home, he recalled, “They were deeply happy. They told us they were glad to select Builcore as their partner because of all the challenges we faced. Their feeling was that no other contractor would have been able to resolve the issues that came up and still deliver this beautiful product if it was not Builcore.

That connection with the clients was as meaningful as the finished result. “Sometimes you meet a person and you click,” Dany said. “These particular clients were like that. It was just fulfilling to deliver this beautiful product to them.”

For Dany, the project was never just about finishes or square footage. It was about creating a home that would endure, both in structure and in spirit. “Of course, profit matters, but what drives us is pride, the satisfaction of delivering quality work,” he said.

The house now stands as proof: warm, full of character, and deeply personal. It endures not only for the family that lives there but for the builder who shaped it. As Dany reflected, it was “another proud achievement,” a building block added to the story of Builcore- a luxury general contractor continuing to set new standards for luxury home construction in South Florida.
